Okay MyBookie tennis betting enthusiasts, with the 2020 ATP World Tour season set to host its annual season-ending Nitto ATP Finals event from Sunday, Nov. 15-22, now is a perfect time to take a look at the eight-man field that will be going all out to claim the highly coveted championship hardware.
Tennis Betting Predictions for the 2020 Nitto ATP Finals
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and world No. 2 Rafael Nadal head up a loaded field of the world’s top eight ranked players that also includes first-time participants Andrey Rublev and my fellow ‘little guy,’ Diego Schwartzman.
The O2 Arena will host the ATP Finals for the final time this year. However, in today’s COVID-19 dominated sports world, the atmosphere will be quite different from the raucous crowd that normally fills the indoor site. In addition to the now, routine COVID-19 protocols that the vast majority of professional sports have put in place across the globe, London is on a complete lockdown that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently put into effect after the United Kingdom surpassed one million cases.

Novak Djokovic | Rafael Nadal |
Daniil Medvedev | Dominic Thiem |
Alexander Zverev | Stefanos Tsitsipas |

All three of this year’s grand slam winners are in action, with US Open winner and world No. 3 Dominic Thiem joining Djokovic (Australian Open) and Nadal (French Open). No. 4 Daniil Medvedev, No. 5 Roger Federer is out of action as he continues to prepare for 2021. World No. 6 and reigning ATP Finals champ, Stefanos Tsitsipas, No. 7 Alexander Zverev, No. 8 Andrey Rublev and world No. 9 Diego Schwartzman complete the field.
Now, here’s a brief analysis on each player.
Novak Djokovic
The world No. 1 is 39-3 on the year with four titles, including the 2020 Australian Open. Djokovic has gone 36-14 in his career in the ATP Finals with five titles (2008, 2012-2015). However, in his last two events, the sweet-swinging Serbian lost to Nadal in the finals of the French Open while suffering an inexplicable loss against the unheralded Lorenzo Sonego in the quarterfinals of the Vienna Open last month.
Rafael Nadal
The 34-year-old Nadal is 25-5 on the year with two titles, most recently, his record-setting 12th French Open crown. However, it should be noted that the ‘King of Clay’ has never won the season-ending event despite qualifying for each of the last 15 and competing in nine of those. Nadal is just 18-14 in his career in the ATP Finals and comes into this year’s tournament fresh off a straight sets loss to Zverev in the semifinals of the recently completed Paris Rolex Masters.
“I don’t know,” he said of his lack of success in London during a recent news conference at the Paris Masters. “That’s part of the game. In some places you have more success and others a little bit less. Yeah, [it] is true that of course at the end of the year in the past I arrived sometimes very tired physically and sometimes mentally, too.
Daniil Medvedev
The 24-year-old Medvedev has gone 23-10 on the year with one title that he claimed almost two weeks ago by taking home the hardware of the Paris Rolex Masters. The bad news is that the Russian went 0-3 a year ago in his only appearance in this event.
Alexander Zverev
The 23-year-old has gone 27-9 on the year with two titles that won by claiming back-to-back titles in Cologne last month. Zverev is a modest 7-5 in this event, but he won it all in London in 2018.
Dominic Thiem
The 27-year-old reigning Austrian has gone 22-7 on the year with one title, though that win cam in a five-set thriller over Zverev in the finals of the US Open champion. Unfortunately, Thiem is just 6-8 all-time in this event, though he did reach the finals last year before falling to Tsitsipas.
Andrey Rublev
The 23-year-old Russian has had an absolutely phenomenal season by going a stellar 40-8 with five titles. While Rublev was knocked out of the Paris Masters by Stan Wawrinka in re Round of 16, he won both of his previous two events in Vienna and St. Petersburg.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
The 22-year-old Greek star is 28-12 on the year with one title in Marseille. Tsitsipas also reached the finals in Dubai and Hamburg while taking Djokovic five sets in the semifinals of the French Open. Oh, yeah, Tsitsipas also won this event a year ago by beating Thiem in a three-set thriller. s
Diego Schwartzman
The 5’7″ 28-year-old Argentine has been absolutely masterful this season in going 25-12 despite failing to win any titles. Schwartzman comes into this event fresh off a run to the quarterfinals in the Paris Rolex Masters while reaching the finals in Cologne 2 and the semifinals in Roland Garros.
The Schedule
Thiem will face Tsitsipas in the singles opener on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2:00 PM while Nadal and Rublev will go at it later that night at 8:00 PM. On Monday, Nov. 16, Djokovic opens up against Schwartzman while Medvedev will battle Zverev.
