Dodgers beat Rays 6 games to 2 to win the 2020 World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 in Game 6 to secure their first World Series Championship since 1988. For a while, it appeared as if the Rays might force a Game 7.

Blake Snell dominated LAD through 5 innings. Tampa left fielder Randy Arozarena hit a home run in the first, which gave the Rays a 1-0 lead. But after Snell gave up an earned run, manager Kevin Cash pulled Blake and went to his bullpen.

That proved to be the Rays’ undoing as the Dodgers turned a 1 run inning into a 2 run inning. Los Angeles got another run in the eighth. They didn’t need it as they won Game 6 3-1.

In hindsight, it’s difficult to say Cash made the wrong move. After all, the Rays had gotten to the World Series based on their excellent bullpen. Why not use them at the first sign that your starter is having trouble?

The Rays are a nice +1000 choice to win the 2020 Fall Classic. They could make few, if any, changes and challenge the Yankees in the AL East. Consider Tampa a contender.

Cubs decline option on Lester

The Chicago Cubs declined to pick up the option on starter Jon Lester, but that doesn’t mean JL won’t be in the Windy City next season. Lester knew he couldn’t get the $25 million that was part of the option.

Lester could get more than the $10 million buy-out, though. The Cubs want to keep one of their strongest starters in the rotation. A lot of dynamite pitchers struggled this season. Lester never got on track. In a full 162 game season, though, he could become, again, one of the most feared pitchers in the National League.

Dodgers looks solid to repeat because . . .

Talking about pitchers that struggled in the shortened season! David Price decided to skip the season all together, which means the Los Angeles Dodgers should get another ace caliber starter to go along with both Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw back in the fold.

If Price returns to the diamond with his best stuff, it could get ugly for the rest of the National League. Julio Urias has ace talent, which means the Dodgers could have four ace starters on their roster, Price, Urias, Clayton and Walker.

Unreal? Yep. Of course, the Dodgers must prove they can win a World Series over a 162 game season, not 60. But for now, they sure look like a solid bet to make things tough on their NL foes heading towards the winter break.

Have a great week!
