We go through the particulars before moving to our top ten for the week! Let’s jump right into action so you can place your bets against their NFL odds.

COVID hits the NFL

The coronavirus pandemic finally hit the NFL. The National Football League rescheduled the Tennessee Titans versus the Pittsburgh Steelers from Week 4 to sometime in November. Although the league said Titans – Steeler will happen on Nov. 24, that could change.

Overall, Tennessee has 18 positive coronavirus tests. Of the 18 positives, 8 are players. The Titans are scheduled to take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. To do so, Tennessee must show that players who wish to participate, and anyone else involved with the team who wants to partake, are COVID free. So, we should wait for later in the week before even handicapping this matchup.

The Titans weren’t the only team that suffered a coronavirus positive. New England Patriots starting quarterback Cam Newton tested positive last week. It was so late in the week the league moved the Patriots versus Chiefs game to Monday night. Although the Pats played tough, they couldn’t hang with Kansas City in the end, falling 26-10.

Also, the New Orleans Saints had a positive scare last Friday. The Saints player was negative in subsequent tests, which is why New Orleans battled Detroit in Week 4.

What do the COVID positives mean? Not much. Like President Trump, getting COVID can happen to almost anyone under the best circumstances. Players must self-quarantine, and team personnel as well, to ensure they don’t attractive the coronavirus. Not because it will be deadly to, it shouldn’t be. But because the NFL has set up strict rules that can cost players paychecks and nobody wants that.

NFL Top 10 heading into Week 5

1. Kansas City Chiefs 4-0 – The Chiefs are 3-1 ATS as well as being 4-0 SU. That’s amazing considering, by now, oddsmakers should ensure KC faces tough spreads.
2. Green Bay Packers 4-0 – 4-0 ATS and straight up makes the Packers at this point in the season the best team in the NFC.
3. Buffalo Bills 4-0 – Buffalo is just 3-1 ATS. Ah, but if the defense comes around, and we know coach Sean McDermott is a defensive mastermind, the Bills may be the only squad in the AFC that can beat the Chiefs.
4. Baltimore Ravens 3-1 – Baltimore is good in every phase of the game. Except, of course, when they face Mahomes and the Chiefs. That loss was too ugly to ignore.
5. Indianapolis Colts 3-1 – Sure, they Jags beat them in the first game. But the 3-1 ATS Colts allow 236.3 total yards and 14.1 points per game, making them a legit Super Bowl contender.
6. Pittsburgh Steelers 3-0 – Pittsburgh wins games the way old school NFL teams do. They play tough on defense and just try to outscore the other team. Nothing flashy, but it’s effective.
7. Seattle Seahawks 4-0 – How can a 4-0 SU and ATS squad rank seventh? Russell is great, but the Seahawks allow the most yards 476.8, in the league. Eventually, that will hurt Seattle.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-1 – Since losing to the Saints, the Bucs have stepped it up with 3 straight wins. Forget Brady. Although Terrific Tom has played well, the defense ranks fourth in yards allowed per, 312, and eighth in points allowed per at 23.
9. L.A. Rams 3-1 – Although the Rams didn’t cover in a 17-9 win over the New York Giants in their last, the victory may have been their most impressive so far this season. The Rams mustn’t post at least 30 to win games, something the Seahawks have yet to prove. That should help LAR when they face-off against Seattle and San Francisco.  
10. New England Patriots 2-2 If not for quarterback Brian Hoyer mismanaging the clock at the end of the first half, and Hoyer getting sacked and fumbling in the red zone in the second half, the Patriots may have beaten the Chiefs. Before both boneheaded Hoyer plays, the Pats were down 3-6.
