Chiefs blast Ravens on Monday Night Football
The Ravens entered the game a -3 to -3 ½ favorite. Baltimore hadn’t trailed in the first two weeks of the season. On their first drive, the Ravens marched down the field and appeared ready to score a touchdown, but the drive stalled inside the 20-yard line.
Setting for a field goal set the tone for a massive Kansas City Chiefs blowout victory. Baltimore had no answer for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Mahomes dominated the Ravens’ secondary, throwing for 385 yards and 4 touchdowns.
But Mahomes alone isn’t the reason the Ravens beat the Chiefs. Kansas City held reigning MVP Lamar Jackson in check. LJ threw for 97 yards and a TD. He rushed for 83 yards on 9 carries, but so what?
The Ravens scored just 20 points in the 20-34 loss. The Chiefs proved that they’re the best team in the NFL and, maybe, it’s not close.
Rams, Cowboys, and Saints blow opportunities
With around 4 minutes left in the game, the Los Angeles Rams had come back from a deficit to take a 32-28 lead over the Buffalo Bills. It sure looked as if LAR might win the game. But Josh Allen rallied the Bills to get into position for a touchdown. Allen threw a TD to tight-end Tyler Krofit with just 15 seconds left on the clock. Buffalo beat the Rams 35-32.
The Dallas Cowboys came back from a massive deficit to take a 31-30 lead over the Seattle Seahawks with less than 4 minutes remaining. Dallas couldn’t stop Russell Wilson, though. Wilson threw a 29-yards TD pass to D.K. Metcalf with 1:47 on the clock. Dak Prescott’s less than 2-minute drive to win the game came up short with an interception in the end zone. The Seahawks beat the Cowboys 38-31.
In the SNF game, the New Orleans Saints had just stopped the Green Bay Packers from converting a fourth and 1 around the 50-yard line. Down 30-27, the Saints had a chance to drive to Green Bay’s end zone, and either tie the game with a field goal or grab a late game lead with a touchdown. On the ensuing play, Taysom Hill fumbled the football and Green Bay recovered. Aaron Rodgers led the Packers down the field, threw a TD pass to Robert Tonyan, and the Packers went up 37-27. That’s how the game ended.
Of the three teams that blew their chances to win, Dallas appears to be in the most trouble. The Cowboys required a 19-point comeback in Week 2 to beat the Atlanta Falcons. If not for that, they’d be 0-3.
The Rams look best. They almost beat a team they were underdogs against on the road in Week 3. Give Los Angeles props for almost pulling off the moneyline upset.
Green Bay Packers biggest Super Bowl odds overlay, Seattle Seahawks biggest underlay
Heading into Week 4, the Green Bay Packers are a nice overlay to win the Super Bowl. Undefeated Green Bay has the second ranked offense in the NFL based on yards per game. Green Bay’s defense ranks 14th. It allows 362 yards per.
Seattle offers underlay odds to win the Super Bowl. Although the Seahawks have impressed with 3 straight wins, it’s a matter of time before Seattle bombs. Why? The offense is decent enough, but the defense ranks 32-of-32 teams.
Seattle allows an average of 497.3 yards per game. That’s downright Big 12 like. The Seahawks won’t keep winning games if their defense allows opponents to gash them with the pass and run.
Looking ahead to Week 4, the top matchup is the New England Patriots at the Kansas City Chiefs. If the Patriots can hang with the Chiefs, forget talk about New England falling apart this season.
Also, the Tennessee Titans host the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tennessee just closed their practice facility until Saturday due to coronavirus positives, 3 players and 5 staff. Minnesota, who battled the Titans in Week 3, also closed their facility. Make sure to check later in the week to see if the Titans and Vikings must cancel their upcoming game.
