Thanks to the arrival of living legend Tom Brady – and a new collective mindset that came along with his acquisition – the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking for nothing less than to wrap their hands around the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl trophy once the 2020 NFL regular season gets underway. Whether you like Tampa Bay’s chances of improving on their 7-9 mark from a year ago to win it all or believe they could come up short in their quest for Super Bowl success, you’re going to find out what likely lies ahead for ‘Tom Terrific’ and company over the course of the 2020 NFL campaign. Now, let’s find out how Brady and the Bucs will fare against their value-packed NFL odds to win the NFC South, the NFC conference crown and ultimately, Super Bowl 55.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2020 NFL Odds | NFL Betting Predictions

Tampa Bay ranked a stellar third in total offense, first in passing (302.8 ypg), 24th in rushing (95.1 ypg) and impressive fourth in scoring last season (28.6 ppg) and that was with former franchise quarterback Jameis Winston throwing a league-leading 30 interceptions to virtually cancel out his 33 TD tosses. Second-year running back Ronald Jones II led the team in rushing with 724 yards. Third-year wide receiver Chris Godwin had a team-high 1,333 receiving yards and three-time Pro Bowl wideout Mike Evans recorded his sixth straight 1,000-yard receiving campaign.

On defense, the Bucs were outstanding in finishing first against the run (73.8 ypg), but awful against the pass in finishing 30th by allowing 343.9 yards per game through the air. The Bucs finished a predictable 15th in total defense, but a discouraging 29th in points allowed (28.1 ppg). Veteran linebacker Shaquil Barrett racked up a team-high 19.5 sacks while rookie cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting had a team-high three interceptions.

Additions and Losses

Tampa Bay pulled off a stunner by adding the six-time Super Bowl-winning Brady to take over in 2020 after the future Hall of Famer passed for 4,057 yards with 24 touchdowns and just eight interceptions in his final season in New England in 2019.

The Bucs also got some protection for Brady’s blind side in the form of athletically-gifted No. 13 overall draft pick, Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs. Tampa Bay added veteran tight end Rob Gronkowski and most recently, running back Leonard Fournette. The Bucs also placed their franchise tag on Shaquil Barrett after his monster season while re-signing veteran defensive linemen Jason Pierre-Paul and Ndamukong Suh and selecting another rookie at No. 45 overall that could start right away in Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr.

2020 Prediction

I’ve got the Bucs opening with a loss at New Orleans before beating Carolina, Denver and the Chargers. An upset road loss at Chicago will be followed by four consecutive wins to put Tampa Bay at 7-2 through nine games. Brady and company will drop two of their next three with one of those being a humbling loss at home against Kansas City. Now, at 8-4, Tampa Bay finishes up by splitting their final four games to finish at 10-6. Yes, Tampa Bay looks pretty good on paper, but Brady clearly took a step backwards last season and we still don’t know if this team can stop the pass. While some NFL analysts are saying the Bucs could challenge for the Super Bowl 55 titles, 10-6 and a playoff run that comes up short, sounds about right to me for Tampa Bay in 2020.
