Green Bay Packers 2020 NFL Odds | NFL Betting Predictions

The Packers went a surprising 13-3 in 2019 to win the NFC North under first-year head coach Matt LaFleur. However, Green Bay finished the 2019 campaign ranked a modest 18th in total offense (345.5 ypg), 17th in passing (233.3 ypg) and 15th in both, rushing (112.2 ypg) and scoring (23.5 ppg). Aaron Rodgers completed 62.0 percent of his passes for 4,002 yards with 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions, but his 95.4 passer rating was his second lowest in his last 11 seasons and the good old-fashioned eye test says he took a step backwards a year ago. Running back Aaron Jones had his best season by rushing for 1,202 yards and catching 49 passes for 474 yards with 19 combined touchdowns. Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams put up 1,295 receiving yards and five scores, but outside of he and Jones, the Pack didn’t have many weapons at Rodgers’ disposal.

The Packers were solid, if not overpowering, defensively a year ago in finishing 18th overall (352.6 ypg), 14th against the pass (232.6 ypg), 23rd against the run (1201.1 ypg) and an encouraging ninth in points allowed (19.6 ppg). Linebacker Za’Darius Smith had a team-high 15.5 sacks while third-year cornerback Kevin King had a team-high three interceptions.

Additions and Losses

Green Bay re-signed veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis while signing wide receiver Devin Funchess and tackle Rick Wagner in free agency. Green Bay stunned everyone by selecting Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick in the draft instead of adding a skill position player. Green Bay did get a player that should see plenty of action in Boston College running back A.J. Dillon. On defense, Green Bay signed linebacker Christian Kirksey in free agency while drafting linebacker Kamal Martin in the fifth round.

Green Bay opens with a road loss at Minnesota before going on to beat Detroit at home. Green Bay then falls on the road against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints before managing to beat Atlanta at home. Green Bay then suffers another road loss, this time, against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before narrowly winning at Houston. Rodgers and company then lose to the Vikings for the second time before falling on the road at San Francisco. Green Bay then wins three straight against Jacksonville, at Indianapolis (I think) and at home against Chicago before losing in Philly. The Packers split their final four games while losing two straight at home against Tennessee and at Chicago to finish at 8-8 on the year.

The Packers didn’t do a whole lot in free agency of the NFL draft and they definitely didn’t get Aaron Rodgers the help he needs, though they did manage to nab his eventual successor in Jordan Love. The Packers might have won a stellar 13 games in 2029, but reaching the double-digit win mark in 2020 looks like a tall task.
