Like most other sports the World Rally Championship (WRC) has had a tough time of it this year because of the global pandemic. This race will be the first official WRC event in Estonia, although there have been races there in the past. After this one, there will be 4 more races that will conclude the 2020 season. The route that the drivers and their navigators will follow here is described as gravel roads that have a lot of hills and jumps, so it is sure to be a test for all involved, especially as the first event back after a long layoff. Let’s take a closer look at some of the favorites for Rally Estonia, which will take place September 4-6 so you cab start making your bets against their WRC odds.

Rally Estonia | 2020 WRC Predictions

Ott Tanak

The Estonian driver is sure to feel right at home here, so it is perhaps no surprise that he is in as one of the favorites this weekend. It should also be noted that he is the defending WRC champion, winning it last year after finishing 3rd in the driver standings the two seasons previous. He had a rough start to the season, as he was forced to retire in the opening race in Monte Carlo, but he made up for that by finishing 2nd in the 2 races before the lockdown. He had 6 wins last year, so he is due for one in 2020.

Sebastien Ogier

If you look at the current list of drivers in the WRC, you would be hard pressed to find one as successful as the Frenchman. He finished 3rd in the driver standings last season, breaking a run of 6 straight championship seasons. He seems to be intent on getting back to the top, as that is where he currently sits after the first 3 races of 2020. Ogier has not finished worse than 4th this season and picked up the win in Mexico, the final rally before all was shut down.

Elfyn Evans

There was probably no driver more disappointed about the suspension of competition that Evans, as he looked to be on his way to a career year. It is going to be interesting to see if he can continue with the momentum that he had before the break. Prior to this season, Evans had not finished better than 5th in the driver standings, but a new team and a new car seem to have made all the difference. He is sitting 3rd overall right now and had a win in Sweden, his first since 2017.

Kalle Rovanpera

The son of a racing legend, Kalle Rovanpera is still trying to find his feet in the WRC. This is his 4th season and he has been seeing improved results with each passing year. He was off to a very respectable start this season and is currently sitting in 4th in the driver standings. He does not have a win yet in the WRC, but he did get his first podium in Sweden earlier this year.
