There is never a dull moment in the world of NASCAR, but you have to say that this coming weekend is a little bit more special. Not only will the races this weekend be taking place at Daytona, the drivers will all be using throwback color schemes on their vehicles. There is a lot going on this weekend, but the biggest event of the lot has to be in the Cup Series, as this will be the final race of the regular season. Once the calendar turns over into September, we will be seeing the field begin to whittle down until one driver is left standing. We will get into all of that in a moment, but let’s take a look at all the races going on this weekend so you can wager on their NASCAR odds.
NASCAR Betting Weekend August 28-30
Xfinity Series – Wawa 250 – Friday at 7:30 PM EST
Unlike the Cup Series, the Xfinity Series still has 5 regular season races to go before they start getting down to the playoff events. The battle for top spot in the Xfinity Series driver standings there is about as tight as it gets, with Austin Cindric and Chase Briscoe looking like the drivers to beat. Between them, they have won 11 of the 21 races this season, which gives you some idea of just how dominant they have been. You might think that the championship will come down to these two guys, but there are several drivers hot on their heels, so these next few weeks should be very interesting indeed. Cindric has won 2 races in August, be he has failed to win in each of the last 2 weeks. Besides the two leaders in the standings, look out for Justin Allgaier and Ross Chastain this Friday.
Cup Series – Coke Zero Sugar 400 – Saturday at 7:30 PM EST
We are getting down to the nitty gritty now in the Cup Series, with the final race of the regular season set to go on Saturday night. Rather than looking at this race, a lot of NASCAR fans are looking ahead and trying to figure out who might win it all this season, which is usually what happens once the playoffs roll around. One thing for sure is that we will know the top 16 drivers once this race is over, but can anyone catch up with Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin? Those two have combined for 13 wins over the 25 races this season, but it’s still close enough at the top that we might see someone come off the pace to win it all. Harvick and Hamlin are the favorites this weekend, but also keep an eye on Brad Keselowski and Chase Elliott.
Truck Series – CarShield 200 – Sunday at Noon EST
The final race of the weekend will see the truck drivers hit the track at Daytona for the CarShield 200. After this one, the drivers will have 2 more races before they get down to the playoffs and the Round of 10. No driver has really dominated through the 13 races this season, but there is one who is making a move late in the year. That would be Zane Smith, who has picked up a pair of wins in the month of August to land atop the driver standings. This race is going to go down to the wire this season, but look for Smith to have another big race on Sunday.
