The Seattle Mariners might be the worst team in the American League and the Los Angeles Dodgers the best in all of baseball. Thus, this week’s interleague series in L.A. doesn’t figure to be close, with the Dodgers as heavy MLB betting favorites for Game 1 on Monday.

Why Bet on Seattle?
The Mariners lost their fifth in a row Sunday, 3-2 to Houston.
“Certainly, a disappointing end to a well-pitched ballgame,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said. “It was a disappointing series here. You come into the series and you lose a 2-1 game and a 3-2 game against this team and in this ballpark, you have to be disappointed you don’t win those games.”
Rookie Kyle Lewis continued to rake in the loss. He was 2-for-4 and drove in a run. Lewis delivered a run-scoring single off of Lance McCullers in the third inning. Lewis continues to swing an impressive bat, slashing .325/.400/.482 with four homers, 15 RBI and one swipe through 22 games this season.
Kyle Seager ranks T5th in the American League with 7 doubles this season. Since his debut in 2011, Seager ranks T13th in the Majors with 275 doubles and 20th in the Majors with 489 extra-base hits. With 11 more extra-base hits, Seager will become the 4th player in club history to tally at least 500 extra-base hits with the Mariners, joining Edgar Martinez (838), Ken Griffey Jr. (788) and Jay Buhner (557). He is 20 doubles away from tying Ichiro Suzuki (295) for 3rd-most doubles in club history.
It’s Justin Dunn (1-1, 4.85) on the mound for Seattle. The Mariners’ No. 8 prospect will look to build on his first career victory, in which he held the Rangers to two runs in six innings last Monday. The 24-year-old right-hander struck out two and walked three.
He allowed an RBI triple to Willie Calhoun in the opening inning, but settled in nicely afterwards — allowing only a sacrifice fly in the third from there on out. Dunn threw 90 pitches over his six frames — 49 of them for strikes. He had never pitched more than four innings in his previous six MLB starts.
It’s Dunn’s first career start vs. the Dodgers.
Why Bet on LA Dodgers?
The Dodgers won their fifth in a row Sunday, 8-3 over the Angels. Corey Seager homered and drove in three runs. Seager smacked a three-run homer off of Matt Andriese in the fourth inning, increasing the Dodgers’ early advantage to 7-1. He has been sizzling at the plate to begin the 2020 campaign, slashing .294/.342/.574 with five homers and 13 RBI.
Keibert Ruiz smacked a solo home run off of Julio Teheran in his first major league at-bat on Sunday. Ruiz was promoted from the alternate training site on Saturday to provide depth behind the plate while Will Smith (neck) is sidelined.
The Dodgers’ Ross Stripling (3-1, 3.97) was charged with a season-high six runs — two earned — over 4 2/3 innings last Tuesday in a loss to the Padres. Stripling was in control early on before unraveling in the third inning. A pair of costly throwing errors, followed by a Manny Machado grand slam, ultimately led to four unearned runs crossing the plate. Only two of the runs charged to Stripling were earned, though he played a part in his own demise with a third-inning throwing error that allowed a run to score and contributed to a five-run frame for San Diego.
Stripling finished with four strikeouts and also walked two batters. The outing was the shortest of the campaign for Stripling, who saw his three-start win streak end with the loss. The 30-year-old righty has a 20:6 K:BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings across four starts to open the 2020 campaign.
It’s Stripling’s first career start vs. Seattle.
